French and Francophone Studies Major Concentration

Declare your French major or minor as soon as possible; contact Dr. Mary McAlpin, mmcalpin@utk.edu.

The French major consists of 30 hours of course work and the minor of 18. There are two concentrations available for French majors, in addition to the regular major: the Honors concentration and the Language and World Business concentration (see below for more information). Advanced students in the major, the minor, and the two concentrations may substitute a 400-level course for a 300-level course with the consent of the department. Contact the French undergraduate advisor Dr. Mary McAlpin with any questions about the major or minor, or for information about studying abroad. Allez en France! There are programs that are no more expensive than staying here at U.T., and the courses you take abroad can count toward not only your French major or minor but also other requirements.
